Logan Soil and Water Conservation District held their annual meeting at Winner Harvest Barn on September 12, 2019. In Good Taste catering, Mechanicsburg, catered the event and all enjoyed a delicious meal of beef tenderloin, scalloped potatoes, green beans, and roll. The meeting was held in conjunction with Logan Co Farm Bureau who is commemorating their 100th year so birthday cupcakes were enjoyed for dessert.
The Logan Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors recognized Michael and Emily Van Winkle as Logan County's 2019 Cooperator of the Year. The Van Winkles own and operate a 95 head dairy operation near West Mansfield. They have implemented numerous conservation practices into their operation, including a waste storage facility, rotational grazing and pollinator plots.
David Knight of DeGraff is stepping down from the board after this term expires December 31, 2019.Gloria Carson of Belle Center was elected to serve a three year term beginning January 1, 2020.
The annual report was shared providing highlights of 2019's activities and accomplishments. An estimated 2,855 tons of soil have been saved and over 1 million dollars have been brought into the county this year by cost share programs in partnership with Natural resource Conservation Services and Farm Service Agency,
